The European School Chess Championship 2026 is set to commence in Trogir, Croatia, and takes place from April 26th to May 6th 2026.
The event is played in six age categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, and U17, with separate competitions for Open and for Girls U9 age section. The Championship gathers children from 20 European federations who will compete for trophies, medals and the title of European School Chess Champion in the respective age category.
The top seeded players are: U7 – Thorvaldur Andrason (ISL), top-seeded girl U7 – Emilia Karin Arnarsdottir (ISL), U9 – Deniz Irtes (TUR, 1838), GU9 – Kayal Vijay (ENG, 1615), U11 – Leonid Ivanovic (SRB, 2181), top-seeded girl U11 – Mariam Rekhviashvili (GEO, 1750), U13 – Denys Farkash (UKR, 2158), top-seeded girl U13 – WCM Tea Rusitashvili (GEO, 1953), U15 – Andria Kviriashvili (GEO, 2188), top-seeded girl U15 – Lika Chkhartishvili (GEO, 1870), U17 – Matija Mimica (CRO, 2161), and top-seeded girl U17 – Lila Quinn Field (IRL, 1918).

The event will officially commence on Monday, 27th of April, with the first round and the opening ceremony which is scheduled to take place in the venue at 14:00 CEST, one hour before the start of the games.
